Hear-say is a very powerful mind manipulator, and we see it so often: cats put up for adoption because their owners are emigrating and “the cost is just way too expensive.” But is it really?
Emigration is a huge, important decision for any family — and one that’s usually made years in advance. A kitten grows into a cat and should be part of your family, so please factor your pets in from the very start.
The cost of emigrating with cats
It’s often far more affordable than people assume. Before you decide to leave your cats behind, please do your homework — research pet relocation, quarantine and travel requirements for your destination. (A widely-shared Facebook post from 19 September 2019 broke down the real numbers, and they surprised a lot of people.)
Bottom line: please do your homework before leaving your cats behind. They’re family.
